To accomplish this, we may ask (but not require) you to provide us with personal information such as your name, address, phone number and email address to better provide you with information about the ADC as well as campaign and community updates.

What information do we collect using our website?

We use software to monitor and analyze traffic to the ADC website in order to continually track and improve the effectiveness of our online presence. Information collected includes IP addresses, pageviews, unique visits and geographic data. These analytical processes do not gather, request, record, require, collect or track the name or email address of any ADC website visitors.

Like many other websites, this site uses cookies — small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, billing information for donations, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party data analytics applications. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. That is why cookies are so broadly used. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others through your browser.

This site also contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such web sites.

How do we use the information that you provide to the ADC?

When you apply to become a member or associate:

Our application forms ask you to give us contact information (such as your name, phone number, and email address), geographic information (such as your street address and zip code) and specific types of activities of interest to you. We use this information to determine your eligibility for membership, meet state party requirements, and to help match your interests to campaign activities.

We also may share this information with Federal, state, or local candidate campaigns, potentially for a fee. You can request at any time that we not share your information with third parties. The ADC does not monitor or control the privacy policies of such third parties.

Voter file information:

The ADC maintains coordinated records of our contributors, volunteers, supporters, and persons registered to vote in the City of Alexandria. The contact information you provide online, as a volunteer, contributor or email subscriber, may be combined or linked with information from other sources. The use of registered voter information obtained from the State Board of Elections is specifically limited by Virginia law.

We will not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal data to third parties for promotional/marketing purposes. However, we may share your information with service providers for business operations and/or legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.

How do we protect your information?

The ADC limits access to electronically stored personal data to specifically authorized individuals who require such access to carry out party and campaign duties, such as volunteer recruitment and event management. We take similarly strong measures to protect user information off-line.
