The Alexandria Democratic Committee (ADC) is the local committee created by and composed of citizens of Alexandria, Virginia who share the political beliefs and aims of the Democratic Party. The ADC welcomes new members and encourages political participation on every level.
ALEXANDRIA DELEGATES MEETING NOTICE
There will be a meeting of the City of Alexandria's Delegates & Alternates to the 8th District and State Democratic Conventions on Monday, May 2, 2016. This includes Delegates and Alternates for both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
This meeting will begin at about 8:45PM following the conclusion of the Alexandria Democratic Committee's General Meeting in the Minnie Howard School Auditorium (3801 W. Braddock Rd.).
The purpose of the meeting is to transact some business in advance of the May 14 8th District Convention at Edison High School in Fairfax County (5801 Franconia Rd). You will have an opportunity to hear from 8th District Convention Chair Margo Horner as well as others involved in the convention planning process. Candidates for National Delegate will also be provided with one minute to introduce themselves.
Alexandria Delegates and Alternates are expected to attend the May 14 8th District Convention. Registration starts at 9:00AM and the convention will conclude around 2:00PM. If you are a Delegate or Alternate and unable to attend the convention, please email email@example.com as soon as possible. It is important for every Alexandria Delegate slot to be filled. There is a process for Alternates to move into Delegate slots if there should be openings.

The unassembled caucus scheduled for Monday, April 18 to elect Delegates to the 8th District and State Democratic Convention was cancelled.
The deadline for filing to be a local Delegate was April 11 at 5:00PM. For Hillary Clinton, we have the exact number of Delegates (31) and Alternates (8) allocated for the City of Alexandria. For Bernie Sanders, we have the exact number of Delegates (14) and no Alternates. Thank you to everyone for your interest and enthusiasm to participate!
For anyone interested in running to be a National Delegate in Philadelphia, there is a separate process. The deadline for filing to run at the 8th District Convention is Friday, April 29. Eight total National Delegates will be elected at the 8th District Convention and the gender distribution is below:
- Hillary Clinton: Three women, Two men
- Bernie Sanders: Two men, One woman
