Opening Reception of Global Rhythm Exhibition
7:00 – 10 pm, Opening Reception of Global Rhythm Exhibition at Del Ray Artisans at the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center, 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria. The First Thursday Preview is Thursday, July 1, from noon – 9:00 pm. From Paul Gauguin to Amedeo Modigliani, artists have been inspired and entranced by the culture, people, and artistic vision of a foreign land. Whether it’s their ethnic technique or the exotic appearance, artwork influenced by a foreign country opens the minds of fellow artists and patrons alike – displaying a visual passport to a new, beautiful and unfamiliar world. This show celebrates that global inspiration. Jurors have chosen artists based upon their artist's statement, personal art philosophy and submitted artwork. The exhibition runs until Sunday, July 18. . Gallery hours are: Thursdays, 12 noon to 4 pm (First Thursdays, 12 noon to 9 pm); Fridays, 12 noon to 9 pm; Saturdays, 10 am to 9 pm; and Sundays, 12 noon to 6 pm. The gallery is free, open to the public and handicap accessible. For more information, please contact Matthew Tito Cuenca, curator, at 703-768-1726 or GlobalRhythm@matthewcuenca.com or for directions, please visit www.TheDelRayArtisans.org
